In 1964 the occasion marked the introduction of the new 330 GT, a 2+2 coupe whose proportions were the source of considerable controversy. So too were the new cars quad headlights, a departure from Pininfarinas standard Ferrari practice. Answering the cars early critics, coachbuilder Scaglietti commented that We all panic at every new Pininfarina design, convinced that the public will never accept it

But watch the 330 and see how the public likes it a few months from now

Pininfarina has an uncanny sense for being right about what the public wants

As for things that go, Ing. Ferrari just keeps on pointing the way. While those sentiments proved out, the quad headlights lasted only through the first year model run before giving way to conventional dual lamps for 1965. The 300 remained otherwise outwardly unchanged with the exception of new front fender venting. Beneath it all, the car was pure Ferrari: Based on the 250 GT, the frame featured a longer wheelbase to accommodate the 2+2 layout, and the drivetrain was toughened to handle the 300 HP generated by the cars 4.0 L V-12. That output exceeded the 250 2+2s by 50 horses, and kept Ferrari on pace with new 4-liter engines being produced by rivals Aston Martin, Maserati and Lamborghini. The suspension was strengthened as well, with Koni shocks all around and coil helper springs augmenting the rear leaf springs as seen on the contemporary Lusso. By 1966 the 330 GT came standard with a 5-speed manual transmission and alloy knock-off wheels, while the traditional Borrani wire wheels remained available as an option. One of 455 330 GT Series II produced, this 1966 example was delivered to its original buyer in Italy, where it remained through a series of owners. In June 1997 it was displayed in the Ferrari 50th Anniversary celebration there finished in Silver grey Metallic with a Black leather interior.
